I agree. I belive Mr. Warren truely understands what it is to submit to our earthly authorities, yet use this opportunity to teach about the United States and God. I listend to his speech and I thought it was great.

Steve, You are entirely too human! Just kidding, but you bring up a good question: How can we balance our spiritual life with all the other stuff we have to (and want to) do? God owns it all, but I guess he expects us to go about the business of living the life he designed us to live. Somehow we have to set aside special times as the Israelites set aside special days throughout the year to "sacrifice" to the Lord. Only now that we are walking daily with Jesus, we have that moment by moment relationship and a special exclusive private time with him to get our marching orders for the day.
I don't know. We need to touch base with him regularly, and then take him with us along the way. I set aside a special time in the morning with scripture and prayer and then pray along the way as I drive and walk. It seems I have to be moving to be able to settle into prayer. Being still seems to be distracting though I know there is value in it.

I think Rick is acting like an authentic Christian when he agreed to participate in the Presidential inauguration. What is hard for me to understand is why do others Christians have such a hard time with that. It reminds me of the time Jesus said to Zaccheus, "I'm coming to your house for dinner today". Whoa! The Pharisees didn't like that did they?

My one pray is that God would make all of us relational animals. I believe that God works through the relationships in our lives in amazing ways. It is so cool when God uses us in someones life to draw them closer to him.
