Prayerful Dependence

Let's take a look at our third area in becoming a person of IMPACT,  it is Prayerful Dependence.  This key to living a life that pleases God.  When we look at the life of Jesus we see many times that he withdrew to a quite place to pray.  There is a great little story nestled in Mark 1:35-39.  Jesus has just finished a big night of ministry and the next morning he gets up early and goes and prays.  Later that morning most likely when it was light out the disciples begin the search for Jesus.  When they find him I can only imagine the scene, they almost scold Jesus by say, "Everyone is looking for you!".  Jesus probably gets up and says lets move on so I can preach.

I believe that one of the reasons Jesus was so effective in ministry is because he was a man of prayer.  He knew that the source of power was from the connection with God the Father.  He understood the idea of abiding in God and having your life be one of prayer.  He was in deep communion with God.  The Scriptures give us over 45 sections and 30 different instances in which you see prayer taught and modeled in Jesus' ministry on earth.

So the question that is before us is, are we living lives of Prayerful Dependence?  Are we guided by time spent with our Father in heaven?  As a church we are taking the month of June to focus on the One Prayer movement that is happening globally.  Take this month to not only ask God for your one prayer for the church but ask God what his One Prayer is for you.
